I'm Rachel, the artist (and baby whisperer) behind The Little Oak Studio.

As a mother of 4 beautiful cherubs (and I use that term loosely!). I completely understand the first few weeks once bubs arrives earth-side is almost a total blur. You don’t want to forget these precious moments... (you'll need them when they're older to remind you of how little and innocent they once were) On a serious note though, life with children is just amazing.

We recently had our newborn shoot with Rachel and we can not recommend her enough! She was amazing with our little boy, took her time to keep him calm and he was the whole time. We felt very important and not rushed at all, we fed him when he needed feeding and had a great chat with Rachel while we did.

Honestly the absolute best in the business - we are not a family that loves having our photo taken but from the first time I met Rachel we just felt comfortable and knew we wanted her to photograph our family and we are SOOOOOO glad we did! Rachel photographed our little one when he was 2.5 weeks and it was wonderful. Rachel was so gentle with him and the photos are gorgeous! She really is the baby whisperer!

The session was fun and comfortable, and she said was the utmost professional when a not so minor number 2 accident happened during his nudes!!

It was a really enjoyable evening having our family photos taken. Rachel has a delightful personality, and is very talented at getting 2 quite strong-willed young children to cooperate!!

F.A.Q’s

  • Maternity sessions are held around 35 weeks and can be held either in the studio or outdoors.

    Newborn sessions are held when baby is around 12 days new. This is an ideal time as they are still sleepy and can be “posed” into curly positions, similar to how they were in the womb.

    Sitter sessions take place when baby is sitting independently but not yet moving around too much. Usually around 6-9 months. At this stage we can capture their little personalities coming through!

  • To avoid disappointment please book your session as far in advance as possible. There is limited availability each month as I pride myself on giving you the very best attention to detail.

  • Allow 2-3 hours for Newborn sessions, all other sessions I would allow up to an hour.

  • The studio is an intimate space so please just immediate family members - Mum, Dad, Baby and Sibling/s unless discussed beforehand.

    For outdoor sessions, feel free to bring the extended family! Just let us know beforehand.

  • For Newborn sessions the studio is set to 26°c to ensure baby is comfortable as we will be undressing them at times. I also use a small fan heater to help regulate their body temperature if need b

  • Honestly, DO NOT stress if this happens. This it totally normal and expected!

  • It is important to start the session with baby having a full tummy. We can always take a break and let them have another feed during the session if needed. This is also very normal. We will work through it with warmth, rocking and patience. I also have spare dummies if you haven’t been using one already.

  • We will book in your Image Selection Appointment for the week after your session.

  • Please allow 4-6 weeks for your final prints and products to be ready for collection from the studio.

  • Your gallery will be kept on file for 4 weeks and then archived. 12 weeks and it will be removed from our system.

  • If you would like to view/purchase additional images from your gallery after your Image Selection Appointment there will be a retrieval fee.

  • If for any reason you need to reschedule your session please get in touch asap. You will always be notified in advance if your session needs to be rescheduled due to weather. All rescheduled sessions need to be made within 7 days.

  • If for any reason you are unhappy with your final gallery, we can offer you another sitting or we will give you a complete refund of your session fee.

  • Absolutely, if you have an outdoor session booked! We love involving our fury family members.
